A number of AAH Chess Club participants competed in the Austin Area Scholastic Championships on Saturday. It was a great tournament with many competing for the first time. Competing for their very first time were: Danny Conner, Jace Dressen, Gabriel Anderson, Grayson Rorrer, and Naya Domingo.
Our medal winners with a score 3-3.5 out of 5 games were: Jeremy Lara, Grayson Rorrer, Danielle Rye, Caleb Anderson, Evan Davis and Ian Hall.
Anshu Chenurru won 1st place in the Elementary Championships Section
Grayson Rorrer competed in the K5 Under 300 section and won 6th place.
Carson Freidman competed in the 6-12 Under 900 section and won 5th place.
Also in the 6-12 Under 900 Section: Carson Friedman, Tucker Water, John Birch, and Naya Domingo came in 4th place as a team.
Tucker also won the Good Sportsmanship Award for excellence in his attitude, turning every opportunity into a learning experience, and for cheering his teammates on!
Anshu Chenurru and Rocco Trosclair came in 4th place in the Elementary Championships team division.
In the Secondary Championship section: Abhiram Chenurru won 3rd place.
Abhiram Chenurru, Ian Hall, Caleb Anderson, and Evan Davis came in 1st place for the team trophy.
